And the models look close enough alike that in the shadows it gets worse. In some maps it is easy to tell, other not so much. This inconsistent style it irritating as you might fire at your teammates. Or wait to see whom it is and get killed. All that said it has it moments, and is usually enjoyable enough. But it could have been better. One person found this helpful. Honestly, I was totally turned off by the beta demo that was originally released online. Choppy gameplay, unclear specialist roles, uninspired graphics.

Then, in a momentary lapse of my faculties, I bought the retail version. Applied the latest patches, and was again underwhelmed. The tutorials don't offer much insight into how the various specialist classes medic, heavy gunner, commando, recon, sniper, demolitions function. That said, I think it's this specialist system that ultimately won me over. Each specialist has a specific set of weapons that he can purchase i.

The recon has a lifesign detector think of the gadget at the end of 'Rainbow Six' - the book that can identify bogies at great distances. However, the detector runs has a short battery life, and you have to be near your teammates for them to use this information. The medic can heal or revive teammates. The demo guy can set remotely detonated charges and can turn parked cars into map-clearing bombs. The mechanics of the game really emphasize team cooperation.

Yeah, you could have a squad of "elite" shooters steamroller their way to victory, but you could also have a recon sneak the VIP under the noses of the opposition to win the round.

Of course, this assumes that the bunch of strangers that you find online are looking to play this game in a team-friendly way. For now, I think most of the players recognize this and play accordingly, and I think that's what makes GlobOps such an entertaining and challenging experience. I personally didn't purchase through Amazon, but I do own the original game. Its a great, nostalgic filled shooter that has solid shooting, maps, and sound effects.

The main issue stems from the multiplayer being dead. There is a small community that still lingers that requires the game to be tweaked to get online working. Other than that its remaining option is to play the single player bot matches that unlocks new levels if you win the match. For somebody that has never played it, I suppose Its a glimpse of an attempt to capitalize on the success of online PC shooters of its era such as Counter Strike.

Sadly the Artificial Intelligence is way too smart and often it will cover bits of gameplay that should be left to the player. Global Operations requires not enough strategy in single player mood, often you will feel like the mission could have been completed without your efforts. There's a cash reward, and that was extremely well thought, everything you makes will get you some money, time you have been alive, people taken down and more, to enhance the excitement when you are shot your possessions are not lost, they will just lie close to the dead body ready to be collected again.

The multiplayer game in Global Operations is fun and amazing; everything missing in single player mode is now there: other players, real cooperation and more will make you rejoice. Of course you can choose to play on LAN or on the Internet. It is very similar to Counter-Strike with up to 24 players and 2 teams. As in single player it is a matter of 2 teams, each one has an own objective, of course the reward system will boost the game in multiplayer a lot more than in single player mode.

The game is worth your money, though you must be willing to play it in multiplayer mode, single player looks like some training ground to the multi party, not a game on its own. This is really a game you can have a lot of fun with on a LAN party, if you dare moving a bit away from Counter-Strike and trying something new.

After you pick the character and equipment you want for your character you start the game and have to participate in missions that happened in real life; when you are finished with the good-boy team campaign you can then head on playing the bad team campaign.

Each mission has a different story line, as an example in the first mission you're the allied side attacking a fortress in Mexico and your objectives is to blow up two possessions. The opposite team, Mexico needs to defend these from allies instead. In this mission Allies are tagged as the good ones whilst Mexicans are the bad guys. Sadly the Artificial Intelligence is way too smart and often it will cover bits of gameplay that should be left to the player.

The game is worth your money, though you must be willing to play it in multiplayer mode, single player looks like some training ground to the multi party, not a game on its own. So, you do not need a windows computer to run it. Seller did not state the it will not operate in the latest Windows format. I remember playing this game as a kid back in the day. This is the roots of all games now! GO has the making of a great game. For the most part, it is. What can hold it back is the rough graphics and sometimes confusing gameplay.

I liked the overall setup of classes and weapons. The weapons all have their strengths, limitations, handle differently and with enough cash you can add scopes, extra ammo, silencers, etc.

This is a neat feature that can really add to what your gun of choice is capable of. On the other hand, what is the point of a silencer if they already know where you are?

Or a laser sight that gives away your location? I do think that they all sound good. The machine guns make a nice throaty roar while SMGs make a nice hard tapping sound. They all sound like they should and sound good.

Like the weapons, each class has strengths and limitations that help focus the team based combat. A recon trooper moves forward to light up enemies while a pair of heavy gunners provides cover fire for example.

While this sounds good in theory, actually getting other people to do this is rare. More often than not it brakes down in to a free for all until the match expires or someone manages to meet an objective. Coordination is compounded by the vague voice commands and lack of a map to location posistions. The graphics should have been better. The player models are many and varied but it seems they shot for quantity over quality. The models are bland and crudely shaped with stiff animations. The lighting is generally good, but player shadows are simple and look tacked on.

At least most of the texturing is good enough and the flash from weapons or smoke from grenades look good. Most of that I could overlook but for one thing. It is not always easy to tell if the player in the distance is on your team or not. This sounds so simple but it can be confusing. More so if you are switched teams by the game at the end of the round. In the "Mexico" map for example, the good guys wear flat drab green and the bad guys wear drab green and tan cammo.

At a distance this it can be hard to distinguish one green pixel from another. And the models look close enough alike that in the shadows it gets worse. Battles take place on huge maps, 13 of them were created, all of them used for single missions, as well as for online warfare.

The game received an adult rating because of the abundance of blood and the seriousness of what happens, presented as real battles. A feature of the gameplay is the division of the 24 people on the server into three opposing sides, which can join together in temporary alliances to destroy the enemy, or act only in their own interests.

Among the extensive arsenal there's room for one cold weapon, a knife, and several types of explosive devices, the remaining weapons are firearms, like pistols and assault rifles. I installed the game and have a problem.

These are BOTs in the game running too fast, like 10 seconds and they start fighting in courtyard. The shotgun shot like x times faster. Any solution? Worked in Windows Ktn 1 point. Junin 1 point. Gamer -2 points. Hi I want the. IgorAz 2 points. Hot bluff -2 points. Working on Win10, WOW! My only issue now is installing patches, it won't install, keeps failing. Durukan 1 point. AYS 0 point. Militant Nod 2 points. When someone decided to make realistic CS X I really want to like this game, I even got fond memories of it from my childhood.

But now it's just extremely frustrating to play, and this is coming from a guy that actively looks for old games to play and with a giant capacity of suspension of disbelief and willingness to cope with clunkiness. But it can be fun, and strives to be realistic with mechanics and weapons especially are charming. Share your gamer memories, help others to run the game or comment anything you'd like.
